I was just looking around today in my windows personalization settings, and found this neat little trick.
I always have tons of open windows and with my dual monitor set up, getting to the desktop can be a pain. I have a pile of icons on the desktop too. Which are used regularly, well most of them. So, now with this little check box boom I have access to my desktop from my taskbar.
